Gavranovic still without a club: ‘I will not sell myself short’

He stays fit in his home country and trains twice a day. In the morning alone, in the evening with FC Collina d’Oro from the 2nd interregional league. “It’s important that I can also train with a team,” says Gavranovic.

He is waiting for an offer. It is not that no club has contacted him or his agent in recent weeks. But the right one wasn’t there yet. “It has to fit,” he says. Because the 33-year-old wants to keep playing “very much”, but not at any price. “I am fit and very motivated. But I will certainly not sell myself below value,” he tells Blick.

He waits in Ticino for the right offer

Another commitment abroad must be worthwhile. Because after seven years in Rijeka, Zagreb and Kayseri, he has noticed in recent weeks how much he enjoys family life in Ticino with his wife Anita and their daughter Leonie (4). They live just minutes from Gavranovic’s childhood home.

What if the right club doesn’t get in touch? Is he thinking about resigning? “It’s not an issue at all at the moment. I’m training and I’m optimistic that something will happen in the next two weeks,” says Gavranovic, who is convinced that he still has many games in his legs and goals in his feet has.

Gavranovic has no time pressure. The transfer window does not apply to a non-club player like him.
