For FC Luzern: full concentration on Thursday! At the Allmend, the Central Swiss are preparing for the qualifying first leg in the Conference League against Djurgardens. The right opportunity to quickly forget the weak Super League start against Winterthur.
Lucerne wants to take a first step towards the group stage in Stockholm. The anticipation is great. But there is an open question after the transfer mess surrounding Ardon Jashari (20): Will the FCL take on the Swedish challenge with or without the ousted captain?
It’s still uncertain. But two things bode well from Lucerne’s point of view. On the one hand, Jashari has been training with the team since Sunday. On the other hand, coach Mario Frick exudes optimism in an interview with the “Luzerner Zeitung” (LZ): “He makes a good impression on me. He enjoyed training on Sunday and showed his qualities again.”
For these reasons, Frick does not rule out Jashari taking action again on Thursday in the Tele2 Arena. Is there peace, joy and pancakes again between the parties? Hardly likely. Frick’s words should be treated with caution. The Liechtensteiner should rather make it clear to his player that the doors are still open to him.
Because Frick adds something in the same conversation with the “LZ”: “Not much has changed in the situation: we are waiting for his signal. If he comes to us and says, ‘I’m mentally ready and I want to give it my all’, we certainly couldn’t do without him.”
The reverse is simple. If Jashari does not take a step towards the team, he will not get on a plane to Stockholm on Wednesday morning. And so he would miss the chance to taste European Cup air for the first time in his young career.
