After blood, red and bankruptcy: FC Basel licks its wounds and is looking for a player

It is not known whether FC Basel would have scored a point against FC St. Gallen with Ardon Jashari (20). Not much speaks for it. Because one could hardly have hidden the weak performance alone. In all relevant stats, the Bebbi are vastly inferior, especially on offense, red-blue are in a devastating state.

That’s not surprising. Because Basel lost their three most dangerous players in Zeki Amdouni (22), Andi Zeqiri (24) and Darian Males (22). And because the two offensive newcomers Thierno Barry (20) and Jonathan Dubasin (23) float in a vacuum. The former does not create a goal threat and (rightly) flies off the field, Dubasin strings bad pass after bad pass before he has to be substituted, covered in blood.

Is FCB really giving up in Jashari Poker?

Schultz pleads for more guts

It’s a night to forget for Timo Schultz (45), the first FCB coach since Raphael Wicky (45) to start his tenure with a defeat. “I would have wished for more guts if I had possession of the ball,” says the East Frisian. His goalkeeper Marwin Hitz (35) is clearer: “That was not enough. We had an idea about the fullbacks that didn’t work. We don’t have the strength on the offensive yet.”

Nothing goes as planned in the center either. Fabian Frei (34) and Wouter Burger (22) usually run after their opponents, barely see a ball, there are no alternatives on the bench with the exception of Leon Avdullahu (19) from home soil. Will Ardon Jashari close the gaps soon?

No FCB bid for Jashari

No. Because the FCL managers around Stefan Wolf (52) and Remo Meyer (42) made it clear to the FCB delegation at a meeting in the Mövenpick in Egerkingen SO right at the start of the negotiations that Jashari would not switch to FCB. For this reason, the company from Basel has so far refrained from making a written offer. And will hardly make up for this by the end of the transfer period.

Instead, those responsible are looking for possible alternatives. After the poor performance in St Gallen you need more than a defensive midfielder. Especially when it comes to offensive creativity.
