The shock is deep in New Zealand. Shortly before the start of the World Cup, a gunman in Auckland shot and killed two people before committing suicide. He also injured six other people, including police officers. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive.

Tatjana Haenni (56), director of women’s football at the SFV until the end of last year and now sports director of the American NWSL, was also in the immediate vicinity of the attack. “The police were everywhere and we were asked not to leave the hotel,” Haenni tells Blick.
