Carlos Alcaraz, more number 1s and more records

With the Wimbledon title, the Spanish tennis player consolidates his lead in the world rankings and achieves his second major at an earlier age than Djokovic, Nadal and Federer

Carlitos Alcaraz once again turned tennis records upside down. Now he does it at 20 years, two months and 11 days, the age at which he won his second Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon, following last summer’s US Open title. The Spaniard, who was the youngest number one in the history of tennis, at 19 years, four months and six days, is consolidating his leadership, which has lasted a total of 28 weeks.

Other “main”

Only Boris Becker managed to do that at a younger age

The emergence of Boris Becker changed the foundations of tennis in the mid-1980s. At the age of 17, he won his first Wimbledon title, and at the age of 18 he achieved his second victory in the cathedral. Alcaraz already has two majors, and in the open era of tennis, only Boris Becker surpasses him in prematurity. Because neither Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal nor Roger Federer reached them when they were younger.

In the first years of his career, Nadal filled his stable with titles at Roland Garros. In Paris, he achieved the first of his 22 majors at the age of 19, and there he achieved the second at the age of 20 years and 8 months.

Federer opened his list of up to 20 Grand Slams by winning Wimbledon in 2003, and achieved the second one in Australia in 2004, when he was already 22 years old.

Djokovic needed more time to start winning major titles. The first was realized in Australia in 2008, and the second. also in Melbourne in 2011, when he was 23 years old.

If Alcaraz were to win the US Open in New York in September, which would be his third major, he would also do so before the Big Three.

Efficiency

Plenary session of “majors” and finals of Masters 1,000

Alcaraz played in two grand finals and won them. full. He did the same in tournaments of the next category, the Masters 1,000. He played in four finals and won all four, Miami and Madrid in 2022, and Indian Wells and Madrid in 2023.

Premature maturity

Fastest in many scenarios

The Spaniard was already the youngest to win in Miami, at 18, and in Madrid, at 19, and also the first to win a triple title in the US (Miami, Indian Wells and US Open), at 19. No one has collected the ATP 500 at a younger age, until Alcaraz did it at age 18 in Rio 2022.

Season 2023

More titles and parties

In individual tournaments, in 2023, no one won as many titles, six, nor 47 games won.
