The change of ownership at Yverdon is perfect. The licensing commission of the Swiss Football League has approved a change in the majority structure in the Vaud club.
Former president Mario Di Pietrantonio (59) sold 90 percent of his shares to US investors. American Jeffrey Saunders is the new successor to Di Pietrantonio, who led Yverdon to the Super League during his nine-year term as president of the Classic league. The former professional – who played in Hong Kong, Singapore and Italy – was previously chairman of the Portuguese club Estoril for four years.
In Yverdon, Saunders is one of the new shareholders alongside American Jamie Welch, the protagonist of this American leadership, who made his fortune in the energy sector.
With the transfer of ownership, the long-term stay in the Super League in Yverdon should be secured. Di Pietrangelo remains with the club and is new to marketing and sponsorship. (NSA/SDA)
