Allen and Bettendorf big winners at Casas Novas

Equestrian competition of several cards in the afternoon program the second day in Casas Novas. The Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in A Coruña ended with an exciting tiebreak, in which Irishman Bertram Allen won riding Pacino’s Amiro.

With the best in the world rankings, the Grand Prix Casas Novas CSI5* A Coruña had a great development and an emotionally charged epilogue in the tiebreaker. Tiebreaker agreed to by 9 out of 37 participants who had tests, after overcoming a very difficult course, with 14 obstacles and a height of 1.60 meters. Greece’s Ioli Mitylineou, who had just finished on the podium in Monaco, shone her own light with L’artiste de Toxandra, with which she completed a double zero that kept her at the head of the competition until the last entrant, Ireland’s Bertram Allen. The rider was looking hard for victory and achieved it with a time of 40.61 which bettered the Greek rider’s 41.21.

Previously, the Marqués de Riscal Trophy was held, a 1.45m test in which Víctor Bettendorf was the outstanding protagonist, as the Luxembourg driver took the first two places in the final standings.

In the afternoon, the action started with the Cervezas 1906 trophy, which fell into the hands of driver Asís Arang. For his part, the Porsche Trophy, which closed the session, was won by the driver from A Coruña, Jesús Bamonde.

Today will be the end of the 43rd edition of CSI A Coruña, after a weekend full of top sports. The program will be opened by the Leblond Lenoir Trophy at 11:30 a.m. and the Prosegur Grand Prix at 1:45 p.m. The competition will end with the Sensormatic Trophy at 16:30.
