Restrictions anger: Municipality of Zurich rejects objections to the cycling world championship

The city council of Zurich has rejected the objections to the traffic restrictions.

The road closures and other traffic restrictions presented at the beginning of the year caused great displeasure among those affected. The residents of the affected neighborhoods have objected to these barriers and the Zurich City Council has now rejected most of them on grounds of necessity and proportionality. Private individuals were given partial permission and measures were taken to improve accessibility, the city council said in a statement on Friday.

However, most of the objections were rejected. According to the city council, the temporary traffic rules on the nine racing days at the end of September 2024 serve to ensure an orderly and safe course of the races. Traffic will be restricted for as long and as necessary. (NSA/SDA)
