Top riders take it easy: Baske Izagirre solo wins 12th stage

Ion Izagirre solo wins stage 12 of the Tour de France. The 34-year-old Spaniard rode away from a break on the hilly 169km from Roanne to Belleville-en-Beaujolais to triumph 58 seconds ahead of Frenchman Mathieu Burgaudau and American Matteo Jorgenson. The favorites keep their powers.

Izagirre makes the decisive attack in the leading group of the chaotic race at about 30 kilometers from the finish and thus lays the foundation for his second stage victory in the Tour de France after that of 2016 with the finish in Morzine-Avoriaz.
