The Museum of Legends, recently opened in the center of Madrid, will host a temporary exhibition of the League from Wednesday, which will include as a symbol against hatred in football the bags that Betis players Borja Iglesias and Aitor Ruibal recently wore to their wedding.

LaLiga announced this Tuesday that the fashion details worn by the footballers, which caused hateful comments and homophobic behavior, They will be exhibited until August 1. in recognition of the attitude of both players in their fight for freedom and inclusiveness within football.

The exhibition will also include the League’s manifestowho praises the attitude of the players and laments that they have received hateful comments for the simple fact that they wear them.

“Unfortunately, these attitudes are still present today and there is still a long way to eradicate them. We hope that in the future we will be able to say that these are a thing of the past. From LaLiga, we join the message of Real Betis players in defense of freedom. Borja, Aitor, thank you for inspiring us and setting an example. Together we can build a more inclusive football. Together against hate,” the text states.

La Liga pointed out that despite the criticism received, “the players gave an answer that was a great example for football and society”, which represents “model to follow”that the organism “claps” and that “is the embodiment of your values: make it matter, leave a mark, aim high and do the right thing.”

During the delivery of Legends add-ons, Borja Iglesias referred to the importance of creating safe spaces and he believed that “everyone must feel free and comfortable with himself, respecting others.” “I also think now we have to start creating that comfortable environment so that everyone can be who they want to be,” he said.

“We don’t care about the comments, but there are people who are suffering a lot and are being pushed to not do what they want. Clearly, we’ve all been through the process of what people will say and we’re privileged to have a lot of people behind ussupport that many people don’t have,” said Aitor Ruibal.

The league reminded that it has been working for years in the fight against violence, racism and intoleranceboth inside and outside the stadium, in order to later report it to the competent authorities, and to «continues its mission to make soccer a more inclusive and diverse place through actions that inspire the rest of society with their values”.
