Jasper Philipsen wins the sprint in the seventh stage of the Tour de France

Undeterred, the Belgian completes his special treble in Bordeaux, with Vingegaard holding on to the gala lap lead for another stage

Belgian Jasper Philipsen confirmed himself as the strongest sprinter at the Tour de France by signing his own the third victory in as many mass arrivals, ahead of the British Mark Cavendish who was close to signing his victory number 35 and surpass the Belgian Eddy Merckx.

The mass arrival in the French wine capital accelerated and once again Philipsen proved to be the fastest. Cavendish was left with honey on his lips in his quest for a victory that would see him alone as the rider with the most stages on the Tour, in the finish where he was the last winner, in 2010.

With this third win in this edition, Philipsen already has five on Tour.

On the other hand, the Dane Jonas Vingegaard kept the yellow shirt in a day without a big story, in which the majority arrived in the group after several stages without much difference.
