Who is the favorite National League player?: Vote for the most popular player now!

In 2009, the Most Popular Players (MPP) category was created. The MPP is awarded to the most popular player in the National League. The election is a purely public vote and takes place only at a glance (vote at the end of the text) and lasts until Friday 14 July.

Here are the 14 nominees who won in the Clubs Fan Vote:

TJ Brennan | HC Ajoie
With 16 goals and 15 assists in 49 games, the American offensive defender is one of HC Ajoie’s best scorers. With an average ice time of over 24 minutes, he was under enormous pressure in his first season in the National League and thus also played a decisive role in keeping the Jurassians in the league.

André Heim | HC Ambri-Piotta
In just two years, the Bernese Oberlander has won the hearts of Ambri fans. In total he had recorded 31 scorer points. Next season, Heim will try his hand at the St. Louis Blues in the NHL and will be sorely missed by the Leventina. An MPP trophy would undoubtedly do him good abroad as well.

Tristan Scherwey | SC Bern
Scherwey has served for the Bernese for 14 seasons, is part of the captain’s team and is one of the pacesetters at SCB. Last season, the fast and tenacious aggressive leader amassed 23 points and was the fifth best scorer in the Mutzen. In 2019, the striker received the MPP award – perhaps a second trophy will be added soon.

Harry Sateri | EHC Biel-Bienne
The Finn is the mainstay of the Zeelanders. With a defense percentage of over 92 percent, he was the second best goaltender of the last regular season and then led the team to the playoff final. In addition to world champion and Olympic champion, the father of two children may soon call himself MPP of the National League.

Andrés Ambuhl | H. C. Davos
It was assumed that the HCD fans would send their Büehli to the MPP race. The Davos icon has already taken home the fan trophy six times. He is a thoroughly charismatic player with an irrepressible will on the ice. It will not be difficult for any contestant to get past the National Record Player and World Cup Record Player in this election.

David Desharnais | Fribourg-Gotteron
In a total of four seasons for Friborg-Gottéron, the Canadian was always one of the best on his team. At the end of his career, he was also top scorer for Fribourg in 2022/23. Can Desharnais sweeten his resignation with the MPP award?

Henrik Tommeres | Geneva Napkin HC
After six seasons with the “Grenats”, Tömmernes says goodbye to his native Sweden. The spectacular attacking defender was one of the key players on his way to Geneva’s first championship title. He started the game, created goals or scored them himself and averaged more than 26 minutes of ice time as a marathoner. An MPP award would of course fit well in the shop window.

Eric Faille | EHC Kloten
Faille played a total of four seasons for EHC Kloten. In the 2021/22 season, the Canadian led the Zurich Unterländer from the Swiss League to the National League as the top scorer and won the hearts of the fans. Tears even flowed as they parted in the spring. Faille will continue his career in the Swiss league at EHC Olten.

Harry Personen | SCL Tigers
The Finnish Olympic and World Champion really feels at home in the Emmental – he is about to start his fifth season with the SCL Tigers. With his playing style, the star striker as captain, top scorer, driver and leader is also the favorite of the public.

Joel Genazzi | Lausanne HC
The Zürcher is almost part of the inventory in Lausanne. The defender has been playing for the Vaud since the 2013/14 season and not only stands his ground defensively, but is also still an avid point collector. He played more than 500 games for Lausanne HC so far.

Jeremiah Gerber| HC Lugano
In his first season for HC Lugano, the young striker scored nine points. And in the south of Ticino, of course, it has already found its way into the hearts of the fans, especially since they chose the Bernese as their MPP candidate.

With his self-sacrificing style of play, the winger is a fan favourite. Last season they vehemently demanded that his expiring contract be extended, which happened then.

Lino Martschini | EV train
More Zug is not possible: Martschini played his eleventh season in the National League for EVZ, did not miss a single game last season and was Zug’s second best scorer of the regular season with 43 points. The fast and agile striker always creates a spectacle in the attack zone.
