Galician striker Alberto Abalde was chosen by coach Sergio Scariolo as one of the sixteen selected for the preparation of the World Basketball Championshipwhich will be held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10.
abalde will be the only Galician in the team marked by the return of Ricky Rubio, Cleveland Cavaliers player and MVP of the last World Cup. They also highlight Lorenzo Brown and Xabi López-Aróstegui absentwho drop out of the call due to physical problems.
National team the concentration will begin on July 26 in Madridwhere they will play the first preparatory match against Venezuela on August 4 in the WiZink Center.
The next games will be played at Martín Carpena in Málaga against Slovenia on August 11 and the United States on August 13. The current European and world champions will finish their preparatory tour against Canada on August 17 and the Dominican Republic on August 19 in Grenada.
