The season really starts for Bayern on August 12 with the Supercup final against Leipzig as the first serious fight. The German record champion is already leading a duel. The opponent is called Daniel Levy, 61, Tottenham boss and notorious for his ruthlessness in negotiations.

Experts agree: Levy is the main reason why Bayern have not yet been able to sign Harry Kane, their absolute dream player. And the Spurs chairman is apparently not thinking of making major concessions to the people of Munich.

Tuchel angered the Spurs boss

It has been an open secret for weeks that Bayern sees Harry Kane as their new clipper for next season. The captain of Tottenham Hotspur and the English national team would also be anything but averse to a move to Germany. But the 29-year-old still has a one-year contract in London.

This is where Daniel Levy comes into play. After another disappointing season, the Spurs boss is under pressure. Letting the leader of his team go now would further weaken Levy’s position. Therefore, the entrepreneur – estimated fortune: 375 million francs – has taken a tough stance on Bayern.

An example? When Levy found out that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel had contacted Harry Kane early in the summer break, the Englishman became furious. In response, Levy now wants to “make Munich bleed quite a bit”. The 70 million euros Bayern has offered so far are nowhere near enough for him.

Tottenham offer Kane a raise

Levy already has an industry reputation for being a ruthless negotiator. When Sir Alex Ferguson (81) wanted to guide Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham to Manchester United in 2008, it also took weeks of negotiations between United and Levy. Ferguson later said that the negotiations with Levy were “more painful than my hip replacement”.

Financially, Levy has done well with his species so far. In 2018, Tottenham reported a profit of more than CHF 130 million after tax. No football club has ever made more profit.

But now even the wily Tottenham boss could be forced to spend more. As the British newspaper “The Guardian” reports, Kane would have received a salary increase from the Spurs. Kane’s salary is currently around CHF 230,000 per week.
