In mid-June, Stefanos Tsitsipas (24) makes his relationship with Paula Badosa (25) public.
Since then, the tennis stars no longer hide their happiness for everyone to see. They also turtled in Wimbledon. Both will play their match in the first round on Wednesday. While Badosa beats Alison Riske (33) in straight sets, Tsitsipas has to lose the full pound against Dominic Thiem (29). His girlfriend supports him in this.
Barely won, Badosa bursts into her lover’s box, cheers for him in the 5th set and celebrates with him. Only during the field interview does Tsitsipas find out that his girlfriend is also in the second round. “Oh, I didn’t know that yet,” says the Greek, beaming in the direction of the coffin. “Congratulations.” The audience applauds and Badosa thanks her by making a heart with her hands.
Sparks of love are flying across the field, apparently something new for Tsitsipas. “I feel like I fell in love for the first time in my life,” he told Greek sports portal sdna. “I never expected that to happen. It gives me a new perspective on life and makes me a happier person.”
Badosa cast a spell on him when he watched a game of hers in early 2020. “It’s not often I see someone on TV and love their energy so much without ever meeting them,” Tsitsipas said. Only three years later did he write her a message in which he congratulated her on the victory of Ons Jabeur (28) in Rome. That’s how their story began together.
Badosa has also long been enthusiastic about Tsitsipas. As he reveals, she watched the Australian Open final in January and then dreamed of him. The Spaniard is asked about it at Wimbledon.
“I dreamed that we would both win the Australian Open.” Badosa also reveals, “We also had a very romantic moment, but I won’t say more about it.”
Whether the two will ever win the Australian Open is in the stars. But maybe they’ll cheer together at Wimbledon. Because Tsitsipas and Badosa will compete in the mixed doubles. (bir)
