Sports director Marinko Jurendic (45) from Zurich still works in his office in the Home of FCZ. But only a few more days. He has long since signed the contract for the move to Augsburg in the Bundesliga and Jurendic will start in southern Bavaria on August 1.

Throwing everything away immediately after signing the contract in Augsburg with FCZ was unthinkable for the detail-obsessed sports director. Leave all files tidy? matter of honor. Even FCZ chairman Ancillo Canepa (70) praises the way of departure despite the loss of the maker of the championship team.

“Jure is very serious, he makes a good transfer. So we don’t end up in the same situation as with the women. The two responsible just walked away and left everything there. That won’t happen with the men.”

oops. Canepa hides a violent dig in his Jurendic praise. And against women’s sports director Theo Karapetsas (32), who was snatched by FCB in the middle of the season, and Pascal Troentlé (30), who immediately brought a confidant of the FCZ women to Basel.

Just “settle down” to Basel? Karapetsas has a very different memory of his switch to red-blue. “In my opinion, after successful years at FCZ, I got on well with the club and those responsible. I was all the more surprised when I read Ancillo Canepa’s public statements afterwards,” Karapetsas told Blick.

The former classification runner is now head of women’s football at FCB. In Zurich, after his departure, the vacuum was solved in such a way that the new trainer Jacqueline Dünker (37) also took over the position of sports director. Karapetsas describes that he assisted the Germans during the transitional period.

“After I had expressed my wish to change at FCZ and terminated my employment in mutual consultation, I was available throughout January to hand over the baton to my successor,” says the Basel woman boss.

In order not to let the matter smolder until next season’s first game in the Women’s Super League, Karapetsas wants to call his former boss himself: “I will contact Ancillo to personally clarify any discrepancies.”
