About a thousand athletes from Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Canada took part in the new edition of the As Pontes Samurai Xtreme Race, a tough test of endurance in which the participants faced a difficult ten-kilometer circuit with 67 obstacles on the way, of all kinds, which participants had to overcome.
The competition took place in the trial of the elite category, in which about sixty competitors took part. The victory was won by Eduardo Cruz with a time of 59.18; second place was won by Marouane Berradia with 59.28; Javier Barrientos crossed the finish line in third place, 1.01.4; he is followed by David López Hinojosa, with 1.02.53 and Jacobo González, who was fifth with a time of 1.03.01.
In the women’s competition, Jessica Velasco was the first to cross the finish line, finishing 15th with 1.12.15; second was Melina Alonso, 22nd place, with a time of 1.15.43; behind her, Fuencisla Vaquero crossed the finish line, position 31, with a time of 1.15.58; Silvia Miragaya (36) with a time of 1.34.38 and fifth place went to Guadalupe Álvarez, 43rd in the race, with a time of 1.47.47.
The first place winners in the elite category receive a place in the Spanish and world championships.
The popular trial, year after year, was also the most numerous, with more than 800 athletes. The victory in the absolute men’s category was won by Anxo Fariña with 1.01.45; followed by Anxo Otero, with 1.02.35; Third place went to Rubén Fernández, with 1.03.29; the fourth place went to José Paz with a time of 1.05.43, and the fifth place was taken by Rubén Villar with a time of 1.07.32.
In the popular women’s absolute test, the first was María Dolores Galego with 1.24.59; followed by Andrea Martínez, with 1.25.37; third Noelia Souto Romero with 1.25.57; Paloma Vilar was fourth with 1.26.24, and Marlen Trucios was fifth with 1.29.24.

As for the age group test, the first place winners were as follows:
18-24 years old. Lucía Martín, 1.36.26 and Guillermo González, 1.20.49. 25-29 years old. Gloria García, 1.42.56 and Adrián Suárez, 1.17.47; 30-34 years oldVanessa Álvarez, 1.40.41 and Ángel Blanco, 1.19.53. 35-39 years oldDanel De Vires, 1.48.50 and Omar Ruda, 1.05.57; 40-44 years old, Lucía Rodríguez, 1.56.00 and Nolo Romero, 1.07.07; 45-49 years old, José Piñeiro, 09.01.11.
In more than 50 years there has been no participation of women, while in the men’s category the first place went to Francisco Rodríguez with 1.28.38. Esteban Areses won in no category.
