Jenny Stadelmann will definitely win a medal at the European Badminton Championships. With a 21:12, 7:21, 21:19 against the Belgian Lianne Tan, the Swiss number 1 is in the semifinals.
Stadelmann almost always executed the game plan well against the strong Belgian, played offensively and mainly dictated what happened. After an 11:5 lead in the deciding set, things got tense again. Stadelmann, however, used the third game ball with a winning point.
It is the first Swiss EM medal at elite level since Sabrina Jaquet’s bronze victory in 2017. Before that, Liselotte Blumer had even won gold in 1980.
Stadelmann’s opponent in Saturday’s semifinal is Mia Blichfeldt from Denmark, most recently a finalist at the Swiss Open in Basel. (SDA)
