Water jump star Michelle Heimberg is European champion for the first time. The 23-year-old from Aargau won gold in the 1 meter final, just ahead of Sweden’s Emilia Nilsson.
Last Sunday Heimberg awarded an even better ranking than the bronze place with the last jump from the 3-meter board. This time she improved steadily and worked her way up from 9th after the first jump. Her last two jumps of five were the best of the 12-man finals competition.
Heimberg eventually had a 0.15 lead over Nilsson with 273.25 points, who clearly dominated qualifying. The third place went to the Briton Grace Reid with a big gap.
Two years ago at the European Championships in Budapest, Heimberg won the silver medal in the 1 meter plank, which is not part of the Olympic program for Paris 2024. After her fourth European Championship medal overall, Heimberg will prepare for the World Championships in Budapest in the coming days. Fukuoka, Japan. These start on July 14. (SDA)
