Obradoiro will play in the European competition next year. The team from the capital of Galicia will participate in Basketball Champions League (BCL). Moncho Fernández’s men have to play a preliminary stage with 23 other teams in order to enter the regular stage of the competition, which will have eight groups of four members each. The initial draw for the qualifying rounds and for the regular season will take place on Wednesday, July 5. Four Spanish teams have already qualified for the second round: Unicaja Málaga, Tenerife, Murcia and Breogán.

For the BCL season 2023-2024. 53 applications were registered, and in the regular season there will be 32 common teams again. The BCL Board of Directors met yesterday and confirmed the names of the teams that have already advanced to the regular season, as well as the 24 members of the qualifiers who will fight for the remaining spots.

The list includes Italian newcomers Bertram Yachts Derthon, a new entry from Turkey with Bursaspor and another with Polish champions King Szczecin, while Lugo’s Breogán became the 10th Spanish team to make it to the regular league. Meanwhile, Baskets Oldenburg, Le Mans Sarthe Basket, Czech champions Opava and Promitheas Patras return to competition after a brief hiatus from the BCL.
