FC Luzern has the first significant reinforcement in the bag. What Blick already announced is now official: Lausanne-Ouchy has said goodbye to his attacking pearl Teddy Okou and has the top scorer move to the Central Swiss side. FCL sports director Remo Meyer will probably have to transfer a six-figure sum to the residents of Vaud. The Lucerne team already agreed with the player.

Many clubs wanted Okou. Among those interested was the FCZ. But the competitors all look into the tube. For the FCL, on the other hand, the obligation is a real coup. With 19 goals, the Frenchman is the top scorer of the last Challenge League season. Even in the victorious barrage against Sion, he was unstoppable with three assists and one goal. The FCL knows from its own experience that top scorers from the Challenge League do not just make it to the Super League. Last year Joaquin Ardaiz (24) was the best clipper in the second class. In the first half of the season, he failed to score a single goal in the league, after which he left the club again on loan in the winter. He’s back now, but whether he stays is an open question.

But Ardaiz is the exception, otherwise Lucerne was always a hit with players from the Challenge League. The developments of Pius Dorn (26), Nicky Beloko (23) and Ismajl Beka (23) speak volumes.

Lucerne looking around the lower house is part of a strategy. “The Challenge League players are economically interesting to us,” Meyer recently revealed. After all, they are relatively cheap.
