Norwegian biathlete Marte Olsbu Röiseland (32) ended her successful career a few months ago. On Instagram, she now surprises her fans with a cheerful message: she and her husband Sverre, the coach of the German biathlon women, are expecting their first child!
«From one adventure to another! We can’t wait to meet this crab in the fall,” the three-time Olympic champion writes in a joint photo with husband Sverre, baby bump and ultrasound images. A blue heart also suggests that Röiseland is expecting a boy.
The couple receives congratulations from numerous biathlon colleagues. The Norwegian biathlon dominant Johannes Thingnes Bö, the Swede Hanna Öberg, the Italian Lisa Vittozzi and the German Vanessa Hinz, among others, respond to the Instagram post.
In March, Röiseland gave up her biathlon rifle. With 39 World Cup victories, 13 gold medals at the World Championships and a total of 24 medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships, she can look back on an extremely successful career.
In her last season, Röiseland was unable to repeat her success last summer for a long time due to the after-effects of a corona infection. The overall World Cup winner of the 2021/22 season only returned to the World Cup at the beginning of this year and won two relay gold medals and bronze in the pursuit at the World Championships in Oberhof in February as a farewell.
