Chrigel Maurer (40) remains the dominator of the paragliding scene. The Bernese Oberlander celebrates his 8th consecutive victory in the toughest paragliding race in the world and sets a new record.
The 40-year-old crosses the finish line in Zell am See (Austria) after 6 days, 6 hours and 1 minute. No one has ever completed the X-Alps in such a short time. After 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021, this year he continues his series of successes in international races.
In the X-Alps, some 30 athletes cover 1223 kilometers from Kitzbühel via Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy back to Austria. “It’s incredible that I’m at the finish after such a short time and some difficult moments,” Maurer told SRF after his win. (mab)
