Alexander Ritschard (ATP 195) loses the final at the Challenger tournament in Lyon to the Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Alves (ATP 156) 4: 6, 6: 0, 6: 7 (9: 7).
After the 29-year-old from Zurich did not concede a single game against his opponent in the second round, the Brazilian again offered more resistance in the decisive set. At 4:4 Ritschard has to give up his service game. However, he succeeds in the direct rebreak and so it goes to the tiebreak, where Ritschard gives away a match point at a score of 7:6. Alves finally uses his second match point.
Ritschard misses his second title at a Challenger tournament after his win in Hamburg last year. Despite the defeat, the Zurich native will make the top 160. He’s never been so well classified. (SDA)
