The Swiss railway specialist Claudio Imhof is forced to take a break. The 32-year-old from Thurgau injured his left hand when he made a detour to the road.
Imhof fell during stage 1 of France’s Tour d’Eure-et-Loir on Friday, breaking the base of the thumb bone in his wrist. The multiple medalist announced this at major events on Instagram.
Imhof was operated on Saturday in St. Gallen. It is unclear how long he will be out. “In the coming days I will assess with my responsible doctors how my further course of the season will develop,” he wrote. Imhof will probably have to postpone his plan to break the Swiss hour record on July 6 on the track in Grenchen. (SDA/mbi)
