Today, former classification star Alexandre Comisetti still plays for the national team.
Michael WegmanDeputy Head of Football

30-time Nati player Alexandre Comisetti (49) played for Yverdon and Lausanne early in his career before leaving Vaud at the age of 22. After special stages, Auxerre, Le Mans and Servette, the wing returned to Lausanne in 2005. He has been a football expert in French-speaking Switzerland for many years and lives near Lausanne.

Alexandre Comisetti, is it true that the city was not so busy when Lausanne-Sport was promoted?
Alexandre Comisetti:
Is correct. Everyone is happy, but the euphoria is limited. Everyone here knows this was just the first step. The great Lausanne of my youth was a top team and always played for titles. There is a chance that this will happen again. But that requires reinforcements – in my opinion only eight to ten players have the class for the Super League.

What about Stade Lausanne Ouchy?
For many years SLO was the best first division club in the region with a large and exemplary youth department. But nobody expected that this club would play in the Super League. The head of sports and the coach did a great job there. SLO has some great players like Teddy Okou. Individually, SLO is stronger than the third climber, Yverdon.

And how did Yverdon win the Challenge League?
Actually, that’s a miracle. The budget has even been reduced for this season. After the good start everyone thought that Yverdon would collapse at some point. But that didn’t happen. You have been promoted thanks to team spirit and a good atmosphere. Hardly any player has the quality for the Super League.

From zero to three Super League clubs. How good is that for Vaud football?
This photo is a nice snapshot, but shouldn’t take long. That would be okay too. Because Vaud only needs one locomotive, one with electricity. And that can only be Lausanne. That has been lacking in recent years. All our great talents in the region should dream of being able to play for Lausanne again, as they used to.

Why can only Lausanne be this locomotive?
Because of the history, because of the stadium and because of the fans. Many young fans are coming to the Stade de la Tuilière again. There will be people in the Super League, I am convinced of that.

But the Super League teams are afraid that they will have to play against SLO in the Pontaise in front of an empty backdrop. Justified?
Absolute. SLO is a neighborhood club, there are no fans. The players’ families come to the Pontaise, maybe a few juniors. But the majority are certainly guest fans.
