King Stucki retires in Schwinger: his enemies, his lovers, his scars!

Although he was already swinging at the top of the prestigious Schwarzsee-Schwinget at the age of 19, Stucki endured a lot of bad criticism in the spring of his career. In 2008 it was the triple king Jörg Abderhalden who attacked the “giant baby” from the Bernese Sealand in an interview with the “Sonntagszeitung”: “For years we have tried to position wrestling as a top sport in the general public. We succeeded Personally, I have invested quite a bit in it. When Christian Stucki says publicly that he has not trained much in the winter and still wins the important festivals, that does not fit with the image of recent years.”

Two years later, Noldi Ehrensberger, the 1977 wrestling kingpin, publicly slanders Stucki: “Watching Christian wrestling must upset me terribly! nothing to offer except his bulk and his short streak!”

Last spring, Ehrensberger also assumed greed in an interview with Sonntagsblick Stucki: “Christian is one of those wrestlers who only keep swinging into old age because they make a lot of money from it.” In the meantime, however, Abderhalden’s criticism has died down. Probably also because Stucki was the only one besides the Toggenburger to win the “Grand Slam” wrestling (victories on the Confederate, in Kilchberg and on Unspunnen).

In 2005, during recruiting school, Stucki suffered a massive bruise on his shin. Doctors assume athlete’s foot led to this infection, which has eaten away at skin and tissue. “At the time I had the blood values ​​​​of a terminally ill man,” reveals Stucki. The 1.98 meter giant is not allowed to swing for 18 months, the huge scar will accompany him for the rest of his life.

The fluctuations in Stucki’s love life were sometimes really pronounced. After being in a relationship with an almost 1.90 m tall wrestler and stone-thrower Franziska until 2007, Christian fell in love in 2008 with a saleswoman who was almost 165 cm tall. But he found his greatest happiness in 2010 when the 43-time winner of the Wreath Festival met Cécile Studer again at the Winzerfest in Erlach BE. “I first saw her in 2007, and I already knew she was my wife for life. But it took Cécile a few more years before she realized I was the right one for her. » C&C has been married since 2015 , the birth of their sons Xavier (10) and Elijah (8) crowns their love.

In January 2010 Stucki and his Bernese buddy Roger Brügger visited a training camp for sumo wrestlers in Japan. “After a few minutes in this room, I would rather have left immediately,” admits the 133-time crown winner. Why? “The training of the sumos was terrifying, their duels reminded me of a head-on collision between two VW Beetles, there was really a lot of ‘beating’ going on. And the gigantic Japanese didn’t take us Swiss wrestlers seriously at first either.”

But that changed abruptly when Stucki demonstrated to the sumos in the cloakroom how to crush an apple with one hand. Even the strongest sumotori have failed miserably in attempts to replicate Stucki’s feat. In 2017, the Septuple Confederation tried wrestling-related sports in Senagal, India, Mongolia and Austria. Result: “I won everywhere and sometimes.”
