Nati player Meriame Terchoun (27) took to the streets with hundreds of thousands of women during the 2019 women’s strike and was enthusiastic. It goes without saying that she definitely wants to be there again on Wednesday for the 2023 women’s strike, which should be as big as it was four years ago.

But the offensive player of the French first division Dijon is part of the selection of the national women’s team. Preparations for the World Cup in New Zealand/Australia will start next Tuesday in Magglingen. A training is planned on the day of the big strike.

Terchoun is so committed because, for her, the issues of the feminist strike have a lot to do with women’s football: equality, better working conditions, higher wages. In all these areas, women have to catch up with men’s football.

It bothers the former FCZ player that most players in the Women’s Super League still have to work in addition to football to make ends meet.

Terchoun advocates better preconditions

But at Terchoun it’s not just about the money. After her cruciate ligament tears, she had to organize and pay for appropriate rehabilitation herself: “Of course the club arranges such things for men.”

That is why Nati’s player says: “We are 35,000 football players in Switzerland. If we all take to the streets on June 14 and say: enough is enough, the clubs and the football association must move forward, then things will move forward.”
