Ricardo Ramilo will repeat at the start of the 2024 Dakar

Author: GRANTED

A pilot from Vigo was also present at the rally presentation

A pilot from Vigo Ricardo Ramilo announced yesterday that he will return at the exit from Dakar 2024 after going through two previous experiences and not being able to finish either of them. It will do so in the category reserved for strollers. Ramilo participated in the presentation of the event in France.

In an act of protocol, David Castera, the Test big boss, revealed the details of the appointment seven months after his celebration. Castera announced the dates, cities of departure and arrival, number of stages, sports news and approximate total mileage.

The 2024 Dakar Rally will start a little later than in previous editions, it will be on January 5, the eve of the Three Kings, and will last until the 19th of the same month. In addition to the prologue, the race will consist of 12 stages, two less than in 2023. The city of departure will be Al-Ula, while the landing will be in Yanbu. Although the exact length of the route has not been confirmed, it is estimated that it will be about 5,000 km special, compared to 4,706 km the previous year. One of the most prominent novelties of this edition will be the stage called “48h Chrono Stage”, a modality unprecedented in the history of the event, which will replace the classic marathon. This stage will take place halfway through the race, in the Empty Quarter desert, one of the largest and most inhospitable on the planet. As in classic marathons, there will be no mechanical assistance, which will make driving even more difficult.

In addition to the presentation, Ricardo Ramil’s team was able to enjoy workshops and trainings on electronic tablets, navigation and other relevant topics. In addition, they had the opportunity to test themselves on the slopes of Château de Lastours on Saturday and Sunday. Ricardo Ramilo shared his feelings: “I am very satisfied with the handling of the vehicle after this break. At first I felt a bit disoriented, but by the end of the weekend I had my confidence and fluidity behind the wheel again.” The man from Vigo was operated on for an old illness a month and a half ago.
