Even the bath in the thermal hotel did not help FC Sion: the last straw was perseverance slogans

FC Sion enters the second leg of Barrage against Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy with a 0-2 mortgage.

FC Sion has been staying in the beautiful and completely renovated thermal hotel Les Bains de Saillon since Thursday to freshen up for the Barrage.

But while the hotel shines in new splendor thanks to the fresh cell treatment, FC Sion went swimming in the first leg! So they were moved to Montreux for the second leg. It’s the very last straw before heading to the Lausanne Pontaise, where on Tuesday (kick-off 8.30pm) the Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy, hungry for promotion, is waiting to devour Wallis.

Sion-Karlen thinks of Xamax

And really, there’s nothing to support the belief that Wallis can catch up with the two-port mortgage. Even though coach Paolo Tramezzani is undaunted combative: “The power of despair can unleash unprecedented power. Win those games you thought you lost.” Gaëtan Karlen also believes in the turnaround: “I’ve been through a lot in football. For example with Xamax this 0:4, which we swept.”

Of course, since we had this absolutely crazy twist in 2019. But there were indications that Neuchâtel could still turn the blame around. But Wallis? They have lost the last six games. In this they managed to achieve one goal. It was Anto Grgic’s penalty in the 1:2 at home against Lucerne. They have been without a win since April 16. Then they won 3-1 at GC.

The Valaisers walk on their gums

They are terrible numbers. But can they be surprised when President Christian Constantin announced months ago that the lights would go out in a year and that it wouldn’t matter if he played his last season in Challenge instead of Super League?

And things are not getting any better in terms of absenteeism and injuries. Sion starts with the very last team: compared to the first leg, Gora Diouf is missing, who had to leave injured in the 0:2. Also missing is Denis-Will Poha, who was only allowed to play due to the appeal against his three game suspensions on Saturday. There was a hearing yesterday. The ban is likely to be confirmed today. The only glimmer of hope: Anto Grgic, who was ill in the first leg, is back in the team.
