Eight-year-old Kenzo suffers from an end-stage brain tumor and, according to his mother, will not have long to live. He is a big Marseille fan, just like his little brother and his parents. “He knows he is seriously ill. He is losing his sight due to his tumor and wanted to attend at least one Marseille match,” Kenzo’s mother told the French portal “Corse Matin”.
His parents fulfill his wish. With the help of the president of the airline “Air Corsica”, with whom the parents were in contact due to a previous trip for children with cancer, they received tickets for the season finale Ajaccio – Marseille.
The whole family goes to the away game, but the family trip turns into a nightmare. At the Ajaccio stadium, Kenzo and his father are attacked by ten Ajaccio hooligans because they are the only ones in the family to wear Marseille shirts!
When the boy fell to the ground after a blow, the Ajaccio fans tore off his Marseille jersey and burned the fan shirt in front of his eyes. They also beat the father. Fortunately, both escaped without serious injuries.
These are scenes that leave France speechless. After the game, the home club immediately apologized to the family and strongly condemned the attack: “Even the most extreme stupidity cannot justify this behaviour.”
As soon as the perpetrators have been found, a report will be made, said the club, which was relegated to France’s second division after the 1-0 defeat at Marseille.
