The two former internationals Rachel Rinast (left) and Martina Moser (right) join the SRF football expert team.

The SRF wants to position itself differently with regard to the European Championship at home of the women’s team and is counting on two new experts for future football broadcasts. Ex-internationals Rachel Rinast (32) and Martina Moser (37) follow Nora Häuptle (39) and Marco Wölfli (40).

With this adjustment, the SRF wants to “take into account the revival in women’s football”. Rinast and Moser, who have played 177 international matches together, are not allowed to analyze women’s football for TV viewers, but ‘especially the Super League’.

Wölfli and Chief give way

As one of the defining figures in Swiss women’s football, Moser was active in the Bundesliga for ten years (from 2007 to 2017) and ended her career in the summer of 2022 in the FC Zurich shirt. Rinast announced her retirement a few days ago and finished the current season in the Grasshoppers jersey. Before that, the Swiss-German dual national played in the Bundesliga for a long time, but has also done her best as a singer, comedian and podcast producer.

The duo follows in the footsteps of Marco Wölfli and Nora Häuptle. Reto Gafner, responsible for football coverage, hopes for new impulses from the new faces. “Both bring a lot of experience at club and national team level. You are eloquent, have a natural appearance and can convey content in a technically proficient and understandable way.”

Gafner thanks the retiring duo of experts: “Marco Wölfli is a respected personality in Swiss football. He was always authentic and approachable in his performances. Nora Häuptle, for her part, has done a lot for the popularity of women’s football and convinced with her razor-sharp analysis.”

The SRF team of football experts is completed by Beni Huggel, Kay Voser and Diego Benaglio. (dti)
