Italian football record champions Juventus failed to qualify for the Europa League. Also because of ten points deducted from the club as punishment for alleged accounting fraud.
AS Roma, the finalists of the Europa League, secured sixth place for Torino in the last minute. The club, which lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla FC in the final on Wednesday, won 2-1 at home against Spezia Calcio thanks to a late goal from Paulo Dybala (89′, penalty kick). Spezia submitted defeat for relegation.
Instead of Spezia, Hellas Verona got it. In a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan, the Veneto club joins Sampdoria Genoa and US Cremonese in Serie B. (AFP)
