A fan of Rivero jumps into the void and dies in the middle of the game at the Monumental Stadium

River-Defense was suspended after 25 minutes of play following the death of a fan

Entity Núñez also explained that the Specialized Fiscal Unit for Mass Events, as well as security agencies, “are operating and conducting relevant investigations.”

As the paramedic explained to local media, the fan suffered a “very serious head injury” when he fell from the upper tray of the Sívori stand, which is located at the bottom of the River Plate stadium.

“He died on the spot. He suffered serious injuries when he fell from 15 meters. He fell or was thrown, there was no push,” Alberto Crescenti, manager of SAME (System of Emergency Medical Assistance), told DSports Radio.

For its part, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) published a message on its social networks expressing “condolences to the family and loved ones” of the deceased fan “and to the whole River Plate world”, while “deeply regretting the death” of this follower

26 minutes have passed since the start of the game, which remained goalless, when the referee Fernando Rapallini, after being informed of the tragic event, ordered a stoppage. After this decision, which ended with the withdrawal of both teams to the dressing room, the match had to be postponed.

River leads the tournament with 41 points, four from Talleres de Córdoba, who defeated Tigre 1-3 yesterday, while San Lorenzo – who will play Colón this Sunday – and Estudiantes de La Plata – defeated Barracas Central 5 yesterday -2, share third place with 35 integers.
