Video clip against the climate law: Here the young SVP Sommaruga and Leuthard take a cold shower

A political music video with nudity. Two months ago, the Young SVP of the Canton of Bern was looking for “amateur actors who resemble Doris Leuthard and Simonetta Sommaruga from behind”. And who are willing to “appear naked (anonymous)”. A provocative clip against the new climate protection law should be included.

The movie is now available. In it, the young SVP is aiming at former energy ministers Simonetta Sommaruga (63, SP) and Doris Leuthard (60, CVP). The two – or their doppelgangers – get a cold shower.

While the two protagonists are shivering under water, Sommaruga’s previous statements are played off screen. “You can also shower with two people instead of alone,” was one of her energy-saving tips that made headlines.

Dressed JSVP men

At the end of the video, the two JSVP co-chairs Nils Fiechter (26) and Adrian Spahr (29) come into play – albeit clothed – and turn off the tap. “Those who don’t feel like taking a cold shower with the two of them will vote no to the law on electricity guzzlers on June 18,” was their message.

They explain that the two JSVP men are playing the woman: “The two former energy ministers are personally responsible for the failed energy strategy of recent years.” With exaggerated activism and misleading ideology, they abandoned safe and clean nuclear energy, made Switzerland dependent on electricity imports from abroad and caused a power shortage with a huge price explosion for energy resources, the two co-chairs write.

“Neither suggestive nor sexist”

When called two months ago, Fiechter had promised that despite the nude scenes, the video would be “neither lewd, nor derogatory, nor sexist”. He sees this promise fulfilled. If there’s actually half a damn Füdli seen in the clip, it’s covered with a black bar.

If anyone complains about sexism, the two already have an answer ready. The video was ultimately based on Sommaruga’s shower statement. “However, in our part of the world, people shower naked and not clothed,” said the two JSVP men. “Anyone who finds these images seriously ‘sexist’ should file a complaint with Ms Sommaruga because of her advice and from now on shower only in swimming trunks or bikini.”

Take on SVP Rösti

But even though the video mocks the two former energy ministers, the young SVP now has to compete against their own Federal Councilor Albert Rösti (55). As a minister, the SVP magistrate is collegially committed to the proposal.

He even has one thing in common with Sommaruga and Leuthard: Rösti is also honored with an SVP video in the voting campaign. (Russian)
