Good news for Kosovars! From January 1, 2024, it will be much easier for them to enter the Schengen area, which also includes Switzerland. From then on you no longer need a visa.
The Bundesrat today approved the necessary amendment to the law. Kosovo meets security, border control and migration management requirements for a visa waiver, the government said.
In fact, Kosovo has been meeting these conditions since 2018. However, visa facilitation has been delayed. The European Parliament finally approved the amendment in April. As a member of Schengen, Switzerland is obliged to adopt the changes.
The visa exemption applies for a maximum stay of 90 days. If you want to work in Switzerland, you still need a visa. In addition, it is a condition that someone is well qualified and that no equally well qualified workers can be found for the position on the Swiss labor market and in the EU and EFTA countries, the Federal Council writes.
