The canceled “Gender Day” for schoolchildren in Stäfa ZH caused waves in Zurich’s cantonal council on Monday. Left parties demanded an apology from the SVP. But she sees the problem at the Stäfa school, which designed the invitation badly.
“The SVP distances itself from all threats,” says SVP cantonal councilor Susanne Brunner (50). The party regrets that employees in Stäfa have been threatened because of the ‘gender day’.
The fact that high school students would deal with gender roles was “right and important,” Brunner said. “Name the entire gender label and print stars and a transgender logo on the invitation” is incorrect. Those responsible have made mistakes.
Fed by Aargau SVP National Councilor Andreas Glarner (60), the school faced telephone terror and threats last week. Glarner had posted the invitation to “Gender Day” on Twitter. The school eventually canceled the event, which was scheduled to take place on Monday. (SDA)
