The FDP decides to vote yes to the climate protection law at the delegates’ meeting in Kreuzlingen TG.

The FDP supports the climate protection law. The party decided this on Saturday at the delegate meeting in Kreuzlingen TG. Despite some criticism, the delegates opted for the clear yes slogan by 234 to 51 votes. “For the FDP, the proposal is a viable compromise that makes an important contribution to the security of energy supply,” the FDP said in a press release.

That’s what the climate law is about

With the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement, Switzerland committed to no longer emit greenhouse gases by 2050. Now this goal must be enshrined in law. The climate protection law is an indirect counter-proposal to the Glacier Initiative, which also called for the complete phase-out of fossil fuels by 2050. The law now on the table does not impose a ban. Instead, the replacement of oil and gas heating systems will be financed for a total of CHF 2 billion over the next 10 years. 1.2 billion is earmarked for the promotion of innovative technologies for climate protection.

FDP chairman Thierry Burkart (47) campaigned before the delegates for a yes to the climate protection law. You must be willing to compromise, in the interest of the country. Even if that means “eating toads from time to time”. The Bernese National Council Christian Wasserfallen (41) spoke out against the “very clear center-left compromise”. Subsidies are not necessary in the oversaturated heat pump market.

The yes slogan for the OECD minimum tax, which will also be voted on on June 18, was already taken at the delegates’ meeting in January. The Presidential Conference (PKK) unanimously adopted the slogan for the Covid-19 law. (lazy/SDA)
