A dispute about the future course has escalated in the Swiss Non-Profit Society (SGG). The SGG board wants to throw out its member, Jürg Kallay, who is responsible for finance. The person concerned defends himself against the criticism.

In an extraordinary meeting, the SGG board decided to recommend its member Kallay to be voted out of office at the June 17 general meeting, as the SGG announced on Thursday. He launched a politically motivated campaign behind the back of the board. Unfortunately, the relationship of trust was irreversibly broken.

Candidates from professional circles and circles of friends

Behind the back of the board of directors, Kallay organized five new candidacies from his professional circle and circle of friends with clear political objectives. At the same time, he mobilized to get the necessary votes for a majority outside the SGG.

Within a very short time, more than 120 applications for membership were received, many of them from right-libertarian young politicians from corresponding campaign teams, the statement continues. The SGG suspended acceptance of all new membership applications to protect the association from political usurpation and a possible “coup d’état”.

Management speaks of insult

Kallay, who works as an asset manager, is also accused of wanting to abolish voluntary work on the board of directors in a way that is unacceptable to the board of directors, contrary to the Zewo guidelines and contrary to the tradition of the SGG. He also demanded that future investments should no longer take into account environmental and social aspects (ESG criteria).

His public accusation that the board members are all politically left-wing clearly goes against the diversity of the largely non-party board and, in particular, the professional competence the board members would bring to the table. He also insults the SGG and its committee members and employees by accusing them in media interviews of “North Korean conditions” or “no idea about life”.

Kallay fights back

Finance manager Kallay dismissed the allegations at the request of Keystone-SDA. He is not planning a political takeover and certainly not a coup. He only submitted five new members to add to the board of directors in addition to the six existing members, thus creating an eleven-member board. Most importantly, he had no intention of voting out existing members, but should now be voted out for “uncomfortable opinion”.

His goal is a balanced opinion of the most diverse worldviews in the board of the SGG. That is why he mobilized his employees, but also young politicians from different parties. Kallay also pointed out that SGG President Nicola Forster is an active GLP politician.

Kallay acknowledged that he was mobilizing for his interests. That is exactly what SGG president Forster did last year when he had a dispute with former president Jean-Daniel Gerber. At that time, anyone willing to join was accepted without an exam.

He also rejected allegations that he wanted to collect money from the SGG. His company received a legal order from the board of directors and was charged CHF 6,354 last year. He campaigned for the introduction of a normal remuneration for board members. Kallay also criticized the fact that the president himself received compensation of more than 20,000 francs last year.

SGG is the master of the Rütli

The SGG is involved in voluntary work and is considered a midwife for organizations such as Pro Juventute, Pro Senectute or Berghilfe. She manages the Rütli and organizes the 1 August celebration there every year. The charity, founded in 1810, and its former director, Lukas Niederberger, whom it parted ways with a year ago, caused a stir with attempts to introduce a new national anthem. (SDA)
