Sagittarius can also do good

Defended against discrimination against shooters: Sagittarius Werner Salzmann.

What happened? For the fourth time, Coop is calling for a “Day of Good Deeds” on May 6. On that Saturday, clubs should perform “hundreds of thousands of good deeds” for society and the environment.

“What Coop is doing there is a scandal!”

“Societies can make the population happy, for example by packing groceries or pumping bicycles,” the invitation says. In addition to political parties and religious organizations, martial arts, animal, risk, motorsport and gun clubs are also excluded from participation.

The SVP politician Werner Salzmann (60) did not like it at all. The Bernese Council of States, itself a sharpshooter, reacted indignantly on Twitter: “What Coop is doing is a scandal!” An initial reaction from Coop only made Salzmann more furious. The clubs excluded from participation are free to participate regardless of the “Day of Good Deeds,” the retailer tweeted.

The day after, Coop finally showed up and corrected the conditions of participation: Shooting clubs were allowed with immediate effect. Salzmann to SonntagsBlick: “After Coop comes back, the case is over for me.”

A letter is on its way

According to a media spokesman for Coop, 200 clubs have registered for the day of action so far. Including those originally excluded from participation.

For example, the shooting club Helvetia Oberzeihen. Its chairman, the Aargause SVP councilor Christoph Riner (45), had sent a peppered letter to Coop. He is extremely pleased that those responsible are now yielding. On May 6, Riner will do a “Bachputzete” with his fellow shooters in the municipality of Zeihen. The president of the gun: “We are not bad people.”
