Garcia shuns the GLP debate

After Isabel Garcia (59) switched parties, the Zurich GLP continued to claim her seat on the cantonal council. “We are looking to talk to Isabel Garcia in the coming days and aim for an amicable return of the GLP seat,” co-chairs Corina Gredig (35) and Nicola Forster (37) announced shortly after joining the party.

More than two weeks have now passed – but the conversation has not yet taken place. “We made suggestions for her dates and followed up on them several times,” says Forster. A date for the interview has not yet been set.

FDP is ready to talk

The talks will not only be between Garcia and the GLP, the FDP will also be present. “With regard to future elections, the population must have clarity on whether the FDP will respect the will of the voters and return the seat,” Forster said.

“Of course we are ready to talk,” said Hans-Jakob Boesch (43), party leader of the Zurich FDP. The FDP only knew since Tuesday that the GLP wanted a conversation between the factions or the parties. “Now it’s a matter of finding a suitable date.” The GLP also had to indicate what she thought the conversation should be about. When asked, Garcia referred to Boesch and said she had nothing to add to his answer.

The chance that the GLP will actually get the backrest is small. No one can force Garcia to resign. Even the federal court has ruled in favor of such party changes – even if they are implemented shortly after the election.
