President of the Council of States hopes for another women’s election in 2023

For Brigitte Häberli-Koller (64), the middle chairman of the Council of States, the proportion of women in the Council of States is not high enough.

The share of women in the small room is currently 28 percent. For the president of the Central Council of States, Brigitte Häberli-Koller (64), that is not enough, she said on Wednesday on the occasion of International Women’s Day. “I hope that in this election year many women will run for office and be elected.”

A few more steps are needed to achieve equality, Häberli-Koller said in a short speech early in the day of the session. Women’s Day also serves to reflect on what can be done for equality. Commitment to more equality is not just about justice, but about progress for society as a whole.

It is true that women in management positions are no longer an exception. But there is still potential. “Women in leadership positions increase a company’s profitability,” said the chairman of the Board, referring to several studies. “Diversified teams are proven to make better decisions.” The same goes for politics.
