Specifically, annual inflation rose from 3.3 percent in January to 3.4 percent in February, as reported by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (BFS) on Monday. In December that was only 2.8 percent.

Compared to the previous month, the national consumer price index (CPI) rose by no less than 0.7 percent to 105.8 points. Analysts polled by AWP had only expected an increase of 0.3 to 0.4 percent.

According to the BFS, this increase is due to several factors, including higher prices for flights and package holidays, as well as for the extra-hotel industry. Prices for rental apartments and petrol also rose. On the other hand, prices for heating oil, berries and new cars fell.
