How do the police and military secure the WEF?

Nothing is left to chance: the police and the army are in Davos because of the World Economic Forum.

With the World Economic Forum (WEF), Davos GR will be transformed into a high-security wing for a few days. Not only the Graubünden cantonal police is on site, but also the army. About 3000 international participants from business, politics, science and society are expected at the WEF.

The guiding principle for 2023 is “Collaboration in a Fragmented World”. The guest list is top notch. 52 heads of government are taking part in this year’s edition, as WEF founder Klaus Schwab (84) in charge announced.

That’s more than ever before. In addition to Federal President Alain Berset (50) and other federal councilors, the heads of state in Davos include Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin (37), German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64), Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte (55), Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez (50), Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis (54) or Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama (58).

The Ukrainian First Lady Olena Selenska (44) is also coming. It is unclear whether her husband, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (44), will give a virtual speech like last year or even travel himself.

The security measures are correspondingly high. What exactly the concept looks like will be explained by the police and army at a press conference on Friday. Blick will be reporting live from the conference here.
