Switzerland currently sees no reason for stricter entry rules for Chinese travelers. The federal government is orienting itself towards the EU. Joint measures are being considered here. A crisis meeting is scheduled for next week.
Talks are currently underway between the 27 Member States on a common line on travel rules. So far, however, only individual EU countries such as Italy or Spain have announced or already implemented tightening.
No sanitary measures at the border at the moment
According to information from the Federal Office of Health (BAG) on Friday, there are currently no plans to “introduce border hygiene measures” in Switzerland. It cannot be assumed that the current infection situation in China will pose an increased risk to the Swiss healthcare system.
According to the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), it would undermine European entry regulations if third-country nationals could enter other European countries via Switzerland. Switzerland will therefore be guided by the EU when it comes to entry requirements. (SDA)
