Fancy the new year? No problem for the Swiss Minister of Sports and Defense Viola Amherd (60). On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Jugend+Sport (J+S), she posted a video on Twitter on Thursday in which she can be seen exceptionally on the dance floor instead of on the political floor.
While Amherd is usually enthusiastic about Swiss Air Force choreographies, this time she had to memorize the sequence of steps for a dance she performed with children and officials at the Federal Palace. The children asked her to dance, writes Amherd on Twitter.
Can you find the right step?
And certainly no rigid officials! In addition to the federal councilor, the dancing adults also include top officials from the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports (DDPS). For example, secretary general Toni Eder and head of communications Renato Kalbermatten.
By this week at the latest, Switzerland will know that with the DDPS not only the swing of the hips is loose, but sometimes also the wallet. As reported by Blick, the Federal Office of Sport (Baspo) has been wrongly paying money from J+S to clubs in the municipalities of Büsingen and Campione d’Italia for years – even though they belong to Germany and Italy respectively.
The dancing minister of defense
Amherd never made a secret of her love of dancing. She performed the “Bula dance” during this year’s scout camp, jumped on stage at her Federal Council party and spontaneously sang along with the Valais singers Sina (56) and Stefanie Heinzmann (33).
