A Twitter account wrongly announced the death of former Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi (80) on Monday afternoon.
It wasn’t just any Twitter account that broke this unsavory message. But one who tweeted on behalf of the new Federal Councilor Albert Rösti (55). But it’s a fake account.
Rösti shares Blick: “I don’t have a Twitter account.” The fact that the fake profile announced the death of Rösti’s friend Ogi is particularly insidious. He congratulated Rösti with a letter after his election. No one in the SVP environment knows anything about a heart attack at Ogi, as the account spread.
More than 300 followers
The federal government has now also discovered the forgery: the Federal Chancellery is aware of it, it reports on request. “The Federal Chancellery intervened on Twitter last Friday and requested that the account be removed,” a spokesman said. Nothing has happened since then!
If you take a closer look, you will notice that the account is neither verified nor actually active. In addition, “the wrong rösti” made a typo when listing his website – for a federal councilor that would be quite unusual.
Another death reported
It is also strange why Rösti would mourn the death of the ex-president of Kazakhstan on the day of his election to the government – but did not say a word about his election as a member of the Federal Council. After all: more than 300 followers follow the fake account, including well-known journalists and some politicians.
