“Can’t Drink It Politically”

Albert Rösti and Hans-Ueli Vogt had to attend the “Club” hearing on Tuesday.

Who should be on the Federal Council for the SVP in the future? The last edition of the SRF program “Club” also dealt with this question. In the latest episode, the TV makers ask children, climate scientists and historians questions to the two SVP men Hans-Ueli Vogt (52) and Albert Rösti (55).

Also in the studio was Operation Libero co-chair Sanija Ameti (30). Moderator Barbara Lüthi (49) wanted to know from her which of the two sees her as the “greener federal councilor”. “Both are staunch SVP politicians, and from a political point of view, I probably can’t drink either,” Ameti provoked. If she hears “Rösti”, at least she has a good culinary association.

“Ruze Insult”

Vogt does not let this slander go and eloquently refutes the young woman. Ameti’s statement was a “gross insult”, according to Vogt. “Our state lives on the fact that people have different political views.” The system of concordance enables us to look for solutions together.

He would therefore never get carried away by saying that he couldn’t drink Ameti, even if they took different political positions than he did, said the Zurich law professor. For its part, Ameti creates a “conversation block” with such statements.

Provocation is her tool

It is not the first time that the Liberal campaign organization has resorted to provocation. Recently, Operation Libero stirred up sentiment against 61-year-old Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, with a meme of him happily playing guitar in a burning house. The organization only blames him for the stalling of Switzerland’s negotiations with the EU.

Before that, Operation Libero mourned the end of the framework agreement through a purchased obituary in the “NZZ” – or publicly called SVP National Councilor Christoph Mörgeli (62) a racist.

The examples show that the organization has done nothing wrong in recent months to draw attention to itself and its concerns. But the latest statement from the Libero boss may have backfired. Vogt received a lot of applause for his counter speech on Twitter.
