Depending on the faction, it will not be a very pleasant 45 minutes for Albert Rösti (55), Hans-Ueli Vogt (52), Eva Herzog (60) and Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (58). On Tuesday afternoon, the first hearings of the Federal Council candidates of the SVP and the Federal Council candidates of the SP will take place in the Federal Palace.
The two men and women appear individually before the various parliamentary groups – and are peppered with questions from their fellow parliamentarians. The hearings are important for the groups to figure out which candidate they want to elect on December 7 – or to consolidate an already existing preference.
The SVP, FDP, Green Liberals and Greens are starting the surveys today. The second part of the hearings will then take place next Tuesday, the day before the elections.
It is heard that SVP National Councilor Albert Rösti prepared with military precision for the meetings with the parliamentary groups – he is said to have read all parliamentary matters on which he could possibly be questioned. Meanwhile, SP candidate Elisabeth Baume-Schneider revealed in the podcast of the two SP bosses the question she fears most – namely the question of how the European issue should proceed. She’s sure she’ll need an answer to that. (lha)
Blick will report live from the hearings from 2.45 pm.
