Lucerne Central National Councilor Ida Glanzmann-Hunkeler (64) will not run again in the elections next fall. The 64-year-old has been politicizing the big room since 2006.
It is with great regret that we note that Glanzmann is no longer participating, the Lucerne Mitte party announced on Twitter on Friday. The businesswoman from Altishofen LU made a name for herself as a security politician, chaired the Security Policy Committee of the National Council from 2019 to 2021 and was a member of the NATO delegation.
A long political career
Before her time in the National Council, she represented the then CVP in the Lucerne Cantonal Parliament since 1995. There she was a member of the Commission for Health and Social Affairs. From 2001 to 2009 she was president of the CVP Frauen Schweiz.
The Canton of Lucerne has nine seats in the National Council. The center is the strongest force with three mandates. (SDA)
